  • Multipliers are available for any county or
multi-county region in the United States
  • Typical users in include consultants, state and
    local governments, federal agencies, universities

RIMS II Data Requirements
  • BEAs national I-O accounts
  • Input and output structure of nearly 500 U.S.
    industries
  • Benchmark and annual I-O accounts
  • BEAs regional economic accounts

6
National I-O Accounts
  • Benchmark I-O accounts
  • Based on data from detailed economic censuses
conducted every 5 years by the Bureau of the
    Census
  • The 1997 benchmark I-O accounts were released in
    December 2002
  • The 2002 benchmark I-O accounts will be published
    in 2007
  • The 1997 benchmark I-O accounts are based on the
    North American Industry Classification System
    (NAICS)
  • Pre-1997 benchmark I-O accounts are based on the
    Standard Industrial Classification System (SIC)

7
National I-O Accounts Cont.d
  • Annual I-O accounts
  • For the years between benchmarks, BEA publishes
annual I-O accounts, which are based on less
comprehensive data than the benchmark accounts
  • The 1999 annual I-O accounts were released in
    December 2002
  • The 1999 annual I-O accounts are based on the SIC

8
RIMS II
  • Since June 2002, RIMS II has been based on
    national annual I-O accounts
  • Currently RIMS II is based on the 1999 national
annual I-O accounts and 2000 regional accounts
    data
