  • On September 15, 1963, a bomb exploded at the
    Sixteenth Street Baptist Church killing four
    black girls, Addie Mae Collins, Denise McNair,
    Cynthia Wesley and Carole Robertson, and blinding
    another, Sarah Collins. The bombing received
    worldwide attention.
