Timelines

• To initially span for 2 years and 3 months.
• Establish effective and inclusive communications
  which is critical
• Building relationships with individual sites and
  other stake holders through visits to possible
  hospital sites.
• A steady increase in the number of participating
  centres over the two years period
• Six sites to become blood culture and CSF
  surveillance sites.

Instituting blood cultures

• Sites that have the capacity to increase their
  routine workload.
• Sites that are performing well in terms of
  meningitis surveillance.
• Repeat site visit, discussion of logistics and
  estimation of number of cultures.

Training / Capacity building.

• Help with production and local dissemination of
  surveillance clinical definitions and guidelines
  for investigation.
• Training of laboratory staff, if required,
  through visits to a well functioning laboratory
  or reference centre.
• Training in records keeping approaches.

  indicators to be measured for each site, country,
  and whole project.

Steering Committee

• Purpose
• Meets twice yearly
• Will set objectives for the project and monitor
  the progress in meeting the set objectives
• Oversee the project implementation
• Provide technical support where needed
• Review and ensure accountability in management of
  project resources
