• PuTTY allows users to run a remote session on a
  computer over a network.
• Purpose Remotely perform commands on a Unix
  server using a windows computer

Open PuTTY 1

• Step 1 Click on Start.

• Step 2 Click on Run.

• Step 3 Type "W/Putty.exe" into the Run
  dialog box and hit "OK.

• Step 1 Type gl.umbc.edu into the Host Name Box.
