  • Drills gas wells in the Lobo Trend of S. Texas
  • 2 rig program (TDs of 8,000 - 14,000 ft)
  • 3 geoscientists, 5 engineers, 2 landmen, plus
    techs, executives, and backoffice staff
  • 100,000 gross lease acres
  • 2,000 square miles of 3D seismic
  • 35,000 electronic well logs (95 tifs)

data management consulting services and solutions
to the oil and gas industry.
  • EnergyIQ delivers services focused on content,
architecture and governance at all phases of an
initiative, from design and development through
    to deployment and maintenance.

EP data management for 20 years and bring a
wealth of domain and technical experience to any
    engagement.

4
  • Challenges
  • Laredo faced the same problems as larger
    companies
  • Multiple silos of data
  • Inconsistent data quality and coverage
  • Knowledge trapped in project files
  • Looking for a solution to enable them to
  • Reconcile data from different sources
  • Support multiple versions of data
  • Synchronize project data stores to the master
    store
  • Access, review, and edit data through a map-based
    interface

5
  • Solution
  • Develop a well data master store using PPDM
  • Develop data management tools around the ESRI
    map-engine

6
  • Why PPDM?
  • Comprehensive, reliable, and flexible data model
  • Support for data management needs
  • Auditing
  • Data Quality
  • Business Rules
  • Versioning
  • Vendor neutral
  • Supported by a large number of vendors
  • Active community of experts

7
  • Implementing the PPDM master store
  • SQL Server database in a Windows environment
  • Commercial tool to automatically load IHS
    transactional data
  • Daily well data updates incl. Tobin LL (20
    tables)
  • Daily reference code updates (30 tables)
  • Monthly oil and gas production updates (5 tables)
  • Drillinginfo new well activity (permits tests)
  • Proprietary data (lat/longs, log KBs, logs)
  • The database contains over 50,000 well records
and close to 10 million production records
  • The daily update process runs in less than 5
    minutes and is handled remotely

8
  • Implementing the PPDM master store
  • Some post-processing is required to handle key
    requirements
  • Triggers to synchronize multiple versions
(SOURCE) of well data and well location data
  • Monthly production data is formatted into a pivot
    table for performance reasons
  • Compositing tool is run to aggregate 14 digit
well records (completion level) into 12 digit
    (wellbore level)
  • Future expansion is likely to include storage of
  • Deviation surveys (P2ES and Proprietary)
  • Velocity Surveys
  • Geologic Tops (Proprietary)
