Starting of Earthquake
  • The San Francisco earthquake of 1906 occurred on
    April 18, 1906.
  • It hit at 512 a.m.
  • The total time of the earthquake was about 45-60
    seconds.

1906 Fault of San Francisco Earthquake
  • This fault was a total of 296 miles long when it
    ruptured in 1906.
  • It is compared with the 1989 Loma Prieta
    earthquake fault rupture. It was only 25 miles
    long.

Fire Caused From the Earthquake
  • The fire that was caused by the earthquake took
    three days and nights to get under control.
  • It finally went out on April 21, 1906.
  • From this fire one quarter of the city was burned
    up.
