Online Student Section Roster Member Data
  • Student section chair and SSA have access.
  • Data can be used for
  • Learning about changes in student section
    (address changes, new members)
  • Demographics studies (where members live,
    technical divisions and technical interest)
  • Phone banks and contact information
  • To gain access, chair and SSA must sign a
    conflict of interest form and member data
    agreement.

Student Section E-mail Messaging Tool
  • Available to section chair and SSA
  • Messages sent to all student members with valid
    email addresses in ASME system
  • Members can choose to unsubscribe
  • Section chairs may have others send email
    messages by giving them their ASME membership
    number
  • No attachments in your email message (Use
    Volunteer Contact Center for that).

Reaching out to Members - Exercise
  • Work in groups of five or six
  • Select an event you have planned for this coming
    year (e.g. technical speaker)
  • GOAL increase the overall attendance and
    diversity of your audience
  • Take 5 minutes to come up with 3 ways to use the
    demographic information from the Section Roster
    and the email tool in the planning and promotion
    of the event
  • Take 5 minutes to discuss with everyone
