    criteria for excellence
  • Limits student excellence
  • Arbitrary competition not cooperation

  • We need to focus on performance criteria, not
    grades.
  • Need to define excellence.

Our Solution Department Specific Qualifiers.
  • Each faculty member submits the descriptors of
    what would be considered excellence, etc.
  • Rubrics evaluated by department committee.
  • Qualifiers would then be shared with students in
    major / department faculty.
  • Norm rubric by having faculty members evaluating
    samples of student work.
