  • To introduce everyone to the concept of the Big
    Event
  • To discuss how to make it effective on different
    campuses

What is The Big Event?
  • A day of community service projects
  • Seeks to provide civic engagement
    opportunities between students and the
    community around them
  • Volunteers work and serve at individual
    community organizations
  • Started here at Texas AM in 1982

History of The Big Event at SU
  • Run by OrangeSeeds, a first year leadership
    program
  • Started in 2005
  • Was a way for students to start engaging the
    community and give back to the area
  • Was also a leadership opportunity for freshmen

  • Located in the city of Syracuse
