OVERVIEW

• Campus Calgary/Open Minds is a collaboration
  among business, community and education partners
  that is committed to student Learning within and
  beyond the four walls of the classroom.
• This innovative, award-winning program allows
  teachers to move their students into the
  fascinating world of the community for a full
  week of curriculum-based learning designed and
  facilitated by the classroom teacher and site
  coordinator.
• Learning is enhanced by immersion in these
  rich locations where students and teachers are
  able to work alongside experts in authentic
  settings.
• Empirical results show fourfold learning
  increases in certain skill sets for children who
  have been through the program.

"I hear the soft sound of birds in the distance,
but I can not tell what bird it is. I can hear
more than one. I hear the gentle wind quietly
rushing past the bushes where I sit. I can
slightly hear the sounds of a little cricket
jumping around in the distance. I smell the
fresh scent of the trees around me, I hear the
sound of a hawk rising through the air. If you
listen ever so carefully you can hear the bugs
busily rushing to their home. All these sounds
put together and you get the sound of the spirit

Chickadee Chickadee makes a sound like its
name. It is hard to tame. Sometimes youll see it
on the ground. If you hear Chickadee-dee-dee
youll know its around. If you put your hand up
high The Chickadee will spread his wings across
the sky. Make sure when you go outside Look where
the Chickadee might hide. If you hear
Chickadee-dee-dee he may be on the ground. You
never know, but he is somewhere around.

Magic occurs when all the things weve talked
about before the people, the animals, the
buildings and our learning are combined to
create one cool, beautiful, useful, fun,
educational place and experience. The Zoo is
magical because its existence gives us time to
reflect and think about important things like
conservation and protection. Also, the magic of
the Zoo temporarily transports us to another
world inside our heads, within our busy city"
