• Equipment for 19 aircraft
• At least 10 A/C by the end of 2005 and

• Certification and start of operations at
  Maastricht UAC on or before Mar05.

Initial Steps

• Internal working group to handle all data link
  activities.
• Preparation of a potential calendar for aircraft
  equipment.
• Contacts with Communications Service Providers.
• Contacts with Avionics Manufacturers.
• Informative meetings with the Spanish DGAC and
  AENA.
• Change of Common Display System for all
  B737-800s.

Activities carried out

• Deliveries of 4 new B737-800 from Boeing
  (Oct-Nov04).
• Certification of the first aircraft (22-Sep-04)
• Decisions taken
• Communications Service Provider SITA
• Avionics Provider Rockwell Collins to forward
  fit new B737-800 and retrofit of existing
  aircraft.
• Preparation of ground systems to accommodate new
  Data Link system. Interfaces with existing
  systems.
• Training Course for flight crews due to the new
  PFD/ND configuration, including flight simulator
  and familiarisation flights.

Comments from Flight Crews ... ... after CPDLC
experiences

• Very good response after the CPDLC trials.
• Increased use of the data link system for AOC
  applications.
• In general, good attitude towards the system.
• Wishing to fly over MUAC as soon as possible to
  carry out CPDLC.
