  • Equilibrium subsystem being added
  • N2/agent mixture will be stabilized in this
    subsystem and then moved into the firex for
    pretest conditioning
  • the N2/agent solubility interaction will attain
    completion in a more controlled manner
  • removes the interaction from the detrimental
    exposure of the temperature extremes found in the
    firex
  • will minimize a circumstance potentially capable
    of producing inconsistent test results
  • Firex leak identified
  • bad seals found in the 1-1/4 releasing valve
    (pneumatically operated ball valve)
  • repair kit ordered due on-site by Aug 01
  • repair will be performed immediately upon receipt
    of parts

  • purpose
  • rank combustion intensity dependent upon varying
    configurations for each fire scenario
  • provide experience with the fire scenarios
  • potentially ease the search for a robust fire
  • the evaluation of the residual scenario will
    include considerations for
  • freeboard (lip) height above the fuel
  • pool surface area
  • the orientation of the pool surface area
  • the evaluation of the spray scenario will focus
    on the combustion intensity as a function of the
    spatial relationship between the fuel nozzles and
    the associated engine core rib located downstream

  • Currently on-going
  • problem solved
  • current device acceptably behaved during recent
    bench-top evaluation
  • the final configuration of the device is in
    fabrication
  • expect operational device in 4-6 weeks
  • Calibration to be accomplished after device is
    completely assembled
  • Device maintains original design concept
  • no excessive proof-of-concept required
  • no difficulty expected in acquiring test data
