Catholic Belief of the Eucharist
  • "The sharing in the divine nature given to men
through the grace of Christ bears a certain
likeness to the origin, development, and
nourishing of natural life. The faithful are born
anew by Baptism, strengthened by the sacrament of
Confirmation, and receive in the Eucharist the
food of eternal life. By means of these
sacraments of Christian initiation, they thus
receive in increasing measure the treasures of
the divine life and advance toward the perfection
    of charity."
  • From Catechism of the Catholic Church 1212.

Mark 1412-17
  • On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened
Bread, when it was customary to sacrifice the
Passover lamb, Jesus' disciples asked him, "Where
do you want us to go and make preparations for
    you to eat the Passover?"
  • So he sent two of his disciples, telling them,
"Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of
water will meet you. Follow him. Say to the owner
of the house he enters, 'The Teacher asks Where
is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover
with my disciples?' He will show you a large
upper room, furnished and ready. Make
    preparations for us there."
  • The disciples left, went into the city and found
things just as Jesus had told them. So they
    prepared the Passover.
  • When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve.

Mark 1422-26
  • While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave
thanks and broke it, and gave it to his
disciples, saying, "Take it this is my body."
  • Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it
to them, and they all drank from it.
  • "This is my blood of the covenant, which is
poured out for many," he said to them. "I tell
you the truth, I will not drink again of the
fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it
anew in the kingdom of God."
  • When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the
    Mount of Olives.

Mark 1422-26

Mark 86-7
  • He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. When
he had taken the seven loaves and given thanks,
he broke them and gave them to his disciples to
set before the people, and they did so. They had
a few small fish as well he gave thanks for them
also and told the disciples to distribute them.

yeast. On the first day remove the yeast from
your houses, for whoever eats anything with yeast
in it from the first day through the seventh must
be cut off from Israel."

Isaiah 535,10
Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause
him to suffer, and though the LORD makes his life
a guilt offering...
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he
was crushed for our iniquities the punishment
that brought us peace was upon him, and by his
wounds we are healed.

1 Cor 1017
Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are
one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.

Acts 242-47
  • They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching
and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread
and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and
many wonders and miraculous signs were done by
the apostles. All the believers were together and
had everything in common. Selling their
possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he
had need. Every day they continued to meet
together in the temple courts. They broke bread
in their homes and ate together with glad and
sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the
favor of all the people. And the Lord added to
their number daily those who were being saved.
