DEFINITIONS FOR 15 MEXICAN FOOD ITEMS ON THE MENU
Mexican food is inarguably one of the most
popular cuisines in the world. In fact, almost
every restaurant in the world sells some
Mexican-inspired items. It is also a cuisine that
uses a lot of the same ingredients (tortillas,
meat, salsa, rice, etc.) repeatedly with
different preparations and variations on
presentation.

BURRITO
A flour tortilla is filled with protein (often
chicken, pork, beef, or steak), rice, beans, and
additional additions like lettuce and salsa
before being wrapped to make it easier to carry
in your hand. Burritos are one of the more
popular Mexican foods in America.

ENCHILADA
This is a tortilla that has been folded up with
filling meat, beans, and vegetables and a
chilli pepper sauce on top.

SUIZO BURRITO
A burrito suizo is one that has cheese sauce or
melted cheese on top. Although the Spanish word
suizo is used to refer to any form of cheese,
it means Swiss (as in Swiss cheese).

MOLÉ
This sauce is well-liked and has a deep color and
several spices. Despite including chocolate, the
sauce may not be particularly sweet, so be ready.
This is a particularly labor-intensive sauce,
even though the sauce does not always need to
boil for a long time. Molé recipes frequently
call for dozens of components, including
hand-ground spices, to achieve that perfectly
balanced flavor.
