25PLM Considerations for Food Beverage
26Polling QuestionIs anyone experiencing one of
more of these signs indicating a need for a
change?
- Increase in reported incidents or customer
complaints indicate that current systems are
inadequate - Longer times to resolve customer complaints show
lack of common view/process into critical data - Presence of multiple systems, especially
homegrown, usually introduce unneeded risk to the
business - Decreasing customer satisfaction show lack of
responsiveness and communication - Increasing field customer service costs show
lack of communication across QA, service and
design teams
27Developing a Business Case
Step 1 Confirm the opportunity Describe the
situation and the business opportunity that your
proposal will impact. This will include the
background to project, the investment logic and
the high-level business requirements. Step 2
Analyze and develop shortlisted options Identify
the alternative approaches and select three or
four options to analyze. Gather information about
each alternative, analyze the options and develop
the shortlisted options. Step 3 Evaluate the
options Evaluate how the alternatives will
deliver on the business objectives, then select
the preferred option, taking into account the
strategic and financial value created and the
risks. Step 4 Implementation strategy Create
the implementation plan for the preferred option,
detailing how to achieve the business objectives,
who will be accountable for each milestone, and
how to mitigate the project risks. Step 5
Recommendation Confirm the recommended option.
Create the business case documents and present
the business case recommendation to leadership.
28PLM Considerations
Evaluate functional solution capabilities first,
unless company standards mandate a deployment
approach. After selecting the right functional
solution, evaluate and select optimal deployment
and pricing models that give your business the
most benefit considering cost, risk, and time to
achieve value. Consider the strategic value of
cloud solutions for global deployments to support
company growth strategies. Make sure to
consider the future, including the transition to
a digital enterprise. We believe that FB
manufacturers that dont digitalize will be at a
competitive disadvantage. Narrow down solutions
based on these high level criteria to create a
smaller list of solutions to evaluate.
Recognize that any selection process will
require tradeoffs so understand which
requirements are the most important to the
company.
