• In this presentation, I will share my journey as
  a junior software engineer transitioning into the
  field of cyber security. My name is Lode Palle
  and I began my career in software engineering
  after completing my education in computer
  science. While I enjoyed the challenges of
  building software applications, I eventually felt
  the urge to explore new horizons and delve into
  the dynamic world of cybersecurity.

Interest in Cyber security's Impact and Importance

• The interest in cyber security's impact and
  importance stemmed from recognizing its critical
  role in today's interconnected digital landscape.
  As a software engineer, I witnessed firsthand the
  potential vulnerabilities and risks associated
  with deploying software systems in a networked
  environment.

Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle

• As a software engineer, I was already familiar
  with the phases of the SDLC, including
  requirements gathering, design, implementation,
  testing, and deployment. This understanding
  provided a holistic view of how software systems
  are developed and deployed.
• In cybersecurity, this knowledge became
  instrumental in identifying potential security
  vulnerabilities at each stage of the SDLC.

Challenges and Growth

• Navigating the transition from software
  engineering to cybersecurity presented several
  challenges that ultimately fueled substantial
  personal and professional growth. One of the
  primary hurdles was the steep learning curve
  associated with mastering new cybersecurity
  concepts and tools.
