Weddings

3Indian weddings are large and colourful affairs
and they do not just take place on the actual day
of the wedding. There are several ceremonies that
take place before the day itself, and they can
vary according to the locality in India and the
various customs that have come down over the
years. For instance, in Hindu wedding culture
there are the Sagai or ring ceremony, Sangeet
ceremony, Tilak, Mehndi, and Ganesh Puja ceremony
all of which occur over the few days prior to the
wedding. One of the biggest of these is the
mehndi (or as some would have it, mehendi), also
known as a henna party, and which is the ceremony
during which the bride sits on the mehndi stage
and has her hands and arms, and often feet as
well, decorated with a paste made of the henna
plant. This is skilled work and is carried out by
an artist and can take several hours. The design
can go into intricate detail and will often
include the name of the groom hidden within it.
The brides friends at the party (its very often
just for the girls) will all gather round and try
to find the name.
4- An Elaborate Affair
- As with all the ceremonies involved in an Indian
wedding, the mehndi can be an elaborate affair
with lot of singing and dancing, food and drink,
and can go on until late in the evening. - At Kenza Creations we can produce the mehndi
décor for your party, and it can be as minimal or
as sophisticated as you wish. There are no rules,
so the decision on that is entirely yours. - Mehndi stages and props can be put together n any
way you want. We have years of experience in
producing mehndi décor for brides and their
guests in the UK, so we can show you some of the
ideas that we have used in the past. Take a look
by clicking on the Gallery link at the top of the
page and scroll down to where it says mehndi and
you will see the sort of things that we can do.
5The good news is that in our warehouse we have
lots of equipment and décor that we have used in
the past, so it enables you to get some ideas for
colour mixes and designs. You can then make a
final decision using the very best effects
without it costing you the earth.
