Title: How Do Solar Panels Work?

1
HOW DO SOLAR PANELS WORK?
Solar panels work on a simple principle the
photovoltaic effect. Here's a breakdown of the
process
2
ABSORPTION OF SUNLIGHT
solar panels are composed of many solar cells
made of semiconductor materials, usually silicon.
When sunlight hits these cells, they absorb
photons.
3
GENERATION OF ELECTRONS
The absorbed photons energize the electrons in
the semiconductor material, causing them to
become "excited" and creating an electric voltage.
4
DIRECT CURRENT GENERATION
The excited electrons flow through the material
in a specific direction, creating a direct
current of electricity.
5
INVERTER CONVERSION
Since most of our appliances and grid systems use
alternating current (AC), an inverter is used to
convert the DC electricity generated by solar
panels into AC.
6
UTILIZATION
The converted AC electricity can now be used to
power homes and businesses, or be fed into the
grid for others to use.
