Affordable and Efficient Root Canal Treatment in
Singapore
  • Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic
treatment, is a dental procedure performed to
treat and save a severely infected or damaged
tooth. The procedure involves removing the
infected or inflamed dental pulp, which is the
soft tissue inside the tooth, and cleaning and
    disinfecting the root canals.

Here's a step-by-step overview of the root canal
treatment process 1. Examination and diagnosis
The dentist examines the tooth and takes X-rays
to determine the extent of the infection or
damage. They will check for symptoms like severe
toothache, sensitivity to hot and cold, swelling,
or an abscess. 2. Anesthesia The dentist
administers local anesthesia to numb the area
around the affected tooth. This ensures that the
patient remains comfortable throughout the
procedure. 3. Access to the pulp chamber The
dentist creates a small access hole in the tooth,
usually through the top surface (crown) if it's a
back tooth or from the back if it's a front
tooth. 4. Removal of infected pulp Using
specialized dental instruments, the dentist
carefully removes the infected or damaged dental
pulp from the pulp chamber and the root canals.
The canals are then shaped and cleaned to
eliminate any remaining bacteria or debris.

5. Disinfection The dentist may use
antimicrobial solutions to disinfect the canals
and prevent further infection. 6. Filling the
canals After the canals are cleaned and
disinfected, they are filled with a biocompatible
material called gutta-percha. The gutta-percha is
typically placed in a rubbery state and then
heated to seal the canals. This prevents the
re-entry of bacteria. 7. Restoring the tooth
Depending on the extent of tooth structure lost,
a dental crown or filling may be placed to
restore the tooth's strength, shape, and
function. In some cases, a temporary filling is
initially placed, and a permanent restoration is
done in a subsequent appointment.

Root canal treatment Singapore may require
multiple visits to the dentist, especially if
there is a severe infection or complex root canal
system. It is common for a tooth that has
undergone root canal treatment to have increased
fragility and may require a dental crown for
protection and strength.
