ChatGPT Cleared the Medical Licensing Examination
Clearing the United States Medical Licensing
Examination (USMLE) takes a medical student four
years plus two years of clinical
rotation. OpenAI's ChatGPT successfully passed
all three sections of the USMLE in one go.
ChatGPT passed all three tests without any
special training. These results suggest that
large language models (LLMs) may have the
potential to support clinical education and
potentially clinical decision making. However,
this is not the first time a chatbot has aced the
test. A few days ago, professors at the
University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of
Business discovered that ChatGPT could easily ace
exams for a common MBA core course, Operations
Management.
