Accelerated Degree Should You Pursue or Not | AHZ Associates

Description:

UK universities are some of the best in the world. They already offer individuals an advantage over other degrees since they require three years instead of the traditional four years common in the U.S. and other countries. However, now there’s another exciting opportunity for students to consider – two-year accelerated degrees are even shorter and may save you even more time and money. – PowerPoint PPT presentation

Accelerated Degree Should You Pursue or Not
2
As a result of globalization, the world has
shrunk to the size of a town. Furthermore, the
number of students studying at international
universities is constantly increasing nowadays.
Furthermore, studying in a new country may be a
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for international
students. Also, a degree from the United Kingdom
provides students with more than just exceptional
academic credentials. Furthermore, a British
degree will allow international students to
carve out a niche in the competitive job markets
of both the UK and their home countries. Because
it is home to a large number of internationally
famous universities, the United Kingdom is one of
the first choices for international students. In
this article, we will go through the concept of
an accelerated degree, what it entails, and the
benefits and drawbacks that come with it. These
should help you decide whether the UK
accelerated degree is correct for you.

Accelerated Degree
3
An accelerated degree (sometimes known as a 'fast
track' degree) condenses a typical three-year
undergraduate degree course into a shorter
two-year programme. In other words, Two-years
accelerated degrees are exactly what they sound
like degree programmes that last two years
rather than the customary three or four.
Moreover, a fast-tracked course would cover the
same content and result in the same certificate
as a three-year course. In addition, two-year
degrees are already available at a few UK
universities, but the House of Lords has
authorized plans to expand them beginning in
September 2019. The goal of this more flexible
option is to attract students who desire a
degree but don't want to spend three years at
university. Also, There's also a monetary
incentive. While colleges will be able to charge
higher annual tuition fees for this more
rigorous two-year degree up to 20 more than a
three-year degree students will save money on
these in the long run.

Cost of Accelerated Degree
4
If you enrol in an accelerated degree programme,
you will only pay for two years of tuition and
two years of living expenses, making it a
considerably more affordable alternative than a
standard three-year degree. Loans to help cover
the expense of accelerated degrees are still
available. Furthermore, anyone enrolled in a
UCAS Degree programme may be eligible for a
part-time tuition cost loan from Student Finance
England.

Advantages of Accelerated Degree
5
When it comes to earning your way into a high-
paying career, an accelerated degree is becoming
increasingly important. However, there is a
drawback two more years in school means more
missed income and, most likely, more student
debt. Accelerated degrees save majoring students
the money and time it takes to take graduate
admission examinations, application costs, and
extra courses. The advantages of this course are
as followed
6
1. Duration of Degree
6
Enrolling in an accelerated bachelor's degree is
appropriate for students who are highly driven.
This style allows you to complete the same
number of courses in much less time, anywhere
between 18 and 24 months. You can skip ahead to
classes in which you are already adept. In most
cases, accelerated bachelor's degrees entail
taking one course every short term and focusing
intensely on that programme. There is no
juggling of information for numerous disciplines
at the same time, so you are more likely to
understand the coursework chosen. Students in
accelerated bachelor's programs frequently
outperform their peers academically since the
material is fresher during tests.
7
7 2. Save Tuition Fees
Accelerated degree programmes are less expensive
than three-year programmes. You'll also save
money on living expenses or having to rely on
your parents. How much would a year's worth of
your monthly expenses (groceries, energy,
transportation, and rent) cost you? What would
you do with that amount of money? Traveling to
South America? Move out of the house and into a
hip apartment? Or how about funding your first
foray into entrepreneurship? According to a QS
poll that asked students what they thought about
accelerated degrees, 72 percent of respondents
responded that the major advantage of two-year
degrees was the reduction in tuition fees.
Students pursuing two-year degrees would incur
less debt, according to 70 of respondents.

3. Swing of Things
8
Coming back from an extended break might be
difficult. You've lost steam, and dozing at your
desk after lunch is a serious risk. Many people
discover that taking long breaks causes them to
forget what they've learned and lose the talents
they've worked so hard to acquire. Moreover, the
workplace operates at the same rapid pace as an
accelerated programme, so students who enjoy
moving quickly through content will be well
equipped for the real world.
9
4. Easy to Begin Career
9
Getting your first job is difficult. It's a
competitive market out there, and it can take
months to get a job. When applying for jobs, an
expedited degree will give you an advantage of a
year. When your colleagues enter the workforce,
your experience will be advantageous to you. A
year may not seem like much, but when starting
out in a career, it might mean the difference
between success and failure. It's what will put
you on the map. It's similar to that
all-important first day of school. It's an
opportunity to form relationships, discover your
interests, and shape your identity. Completing an
accelerated degree programme might also
increase your attractiveness to employers. It
demonstrates that you are serious about moving
up and are dedicated to your profession
10
Disadvantages of Accelerated Course
Accelerated degrees provide numerous benefits,
but they also have some drawbacks. An expedited
degree may not be the best option for you,
depending on what you value and want to gain from
education. The following are some of the most
significant downsides of two-year accelerated
degrees. The disadvantages are as followed
10
11
1. Short Period of Time
11
It is not for everyone to pursue expedited
bachelor's degree programmes. Condensing a
semester's worth of course information into less
than two months might be difficult. Students in
accelerated programmes must be laser-focused on
the curriculum. Assignments are completed in a
rapid-fire format, which may be overwhelming to
some students. You'll need to pay at least twice
as much attention to your weekly coursework. For
busy working people with a full-time job and
family duties, lightning- fast learning isn't
always possible. Any major forthcoming events,
such as a wedding or a new baby, can potentially
derail your commitment
12
12 2. High Drop Out Ratio
The demanding pace of an accelerated bachelor's
programme may force frantic students to drop
out. These degrees have a greater dropout rate
than regular counterparts. Certain subjects may
be especially challenging to learn in a hurried
manner. For example, understanding algebraic
equations and chemical solutions in five weeks
is extremely difficult. A rushed schedule for
bachelor's degrees in demanding STEM subjects
may not be feasible. Accelerated students may
just learn material, pass the final exam, and
then forget about it. Faster courses are
associated with lower long-term retention rates.
13
3. Lack of Communication with Professors
13
Another downside of expedited bachelor's degree
programmes is a lack of communication between
professors. Accelerated online programmes may
admit
on-campus programmes. Faculty may simply
lack the time to
more students than traditional
  • adequately react to each student's query. One
researcher at Canisius College discovered that
students in five-week courses were less
satisfied with their mentorship than students in
full-semester courses due to time restrictions.
Getting feedback and reinforcement from a
professor is a vital element of the learning
    process. However, professors in accelerated
programmes are not guaranteed to respond to
emails within 24 hours or return assignments in
    a timely manner.

14
In the end, there is no such thing as a perfect
degree. Accelerated degrees are an excellent
option for certain people, but they are not a
one-size-fits-all answer. They may be more
beneficial to some pupils than others. Several
universities in the United Kingdom, including the
University of Buckingham, the University of
Derby, and the University of Northampton, offer
two-year accelerated degrees
