Failure to own the First Impression
The first question might sound something like
To start things off, briefly introduce yourself
to the interview panel. Most candidates dont
realize that many panel members will rush to
assessing you, sometimes even before the second
question is asked, so PLAN your introduction.

Lengthy Answers
Youve covered this topic enough, lets move
on. Instead, they will let you deliver those 20
sentences then give you poor marks during the
debriefing, for an unfocussed answer. Whereas a
shorter concise answer shows you were listening
to the question and able to zero in on the issue.

Partial Answers
Sometimes an interview question is a whole
paragraph, with two or three embedded questions,
and some of the embedded questions are not
addressed. If they have to ask a second time for
the unanswered portion of a multi-part question,
youve lost points.

UNSTRUCTURED ANSWERS
Story telling about a topic that has some
similarities to the question, is NOT an answer.
Story telling also leads to lengthy answers, but
a big complex question does deserve a bit answer.
In these cases, consider the S.T.A.R.S. method of
breaking down a big question into sub-parts, even
when the panel didnt multiple embedded
questions.
