What is Moissanite?
The numerous crystalline polymorphs of silicon
carbide, which occurs naturally, include
moissanite. It is an uncommon mineral with the
chemical formula SiC that was found in 1893 by
the French chemist Henri Moissan.

Is moissanite a real gem?
A jewel created in the stars is called
moissanite. In Arizona, in a crater left by a
meteorite that fell to Earth, Henri Moissan
found minuscule fragments of the gem that would
someday bear his name.

Is moissanite as good as a diamond?
On the Mohs hardness scale, moissanite is second
only to diamonds in terms of hardness. Given
that it resists scratches, moissanite makes a
very sturdy choice for an engagement ring stone.
