How Do Gold Dry Washers Work? The dry washers
for gold mining work on the principle of gravity
separation as gold particles are much heavier
than most other minerals in the sediments.
Sufficient dryness allows gravel to be processed
efficiently. Once the equipment is set up and
stabilized, the miners load dirt, clay, or sand
to the uppermost part of the device, known as the
screen, followed by dropping the sediments into
the hopper. Then the dry washer for gold is
activated, and more nuanced gold-bearing material
moves down an inclined, vibrating chute passing
over a series of shuffles/riffles in a recovery
tray. This process separates gold and
fine-grained black sand, again separated by
panning.
