  • There are several factors to consider when
starting a fitness business or a new facility to
ensure gym design success. Unlike popular
assumption, creating a gym is more than simply
    determining how to arrange equipment.
  • One of the best gym equipment manufacturers in
India has put together a list of their top 5
ideas to keep in mind while planning your own
    gym.

Non-gym Facilities
  • You want your members to enjoy their time at your
gym in general, not simply the programming and
equipment. Depending on your membership, this may
entail adding additional amenities to make your
gym a place where people desire to spend their
    free time.
  • Perhaps include a social area, a café or juice
bar, baby changing facilities, showers, and
member lockers (which may seem apparent, but many
    warehouse-style gyms lack). Recovery,
    physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, or massage
facilities, as well as a small kit shop with gym
basics, are all possibilities. There are other
things in the gym that could be considered to
    provide a premium customer experience.

Channel Your Inner Interior Designer
  • According to a brand that offers complete gym
setup in India, some people look forward to this
step of the design process, while others
completely ignore it. The equipment in a gym
helps to create a look, feel, and style, but the
associated interior design work is what really
    delivers.
  • Color scheme, branding (on walls, equipment,
    mirrors/windows, and reception desk), gym
signage, and other small branded items are just a
few things to think about. Speak with our
in-house design team about how we can help you
develop an appropriate look and feel for your
facility. Custom flooring alternatives are also
available, which can enhance brand recognition or
    provide a practical touch.

Mechanical and Electrical requirements
  • This may sound like a no-brainer, yet it is all
too often missed in the early stages of
preparation. Knowing where your power outlets are
can help you arrange your cardio section (unless
you want to have power leads snaking along the
    floor of the gym).
  • Many gyms are now using self-powered cardio
equipment, which is fantastic for logistics and
the environment, but make sure to arrange any
leftover electrics before you install all of your
flooring and equipment, including visual and
    audio solutions.

Noise Management
  • Gyms arent always silent, and in many
circumstances, gym owners must work to reduce
noise, both for users and for other facilities
    that may use your facility.
  • Conflicting spaces in a multi-faceted gym may
need to be divided. For example, next door to
each other, Indoor Cycling and Yoga classes dont
often get along. If you wish to do that, you
should test the acoustics first before deciding
    on permanent locations.
  • If you live on an upper level, be aware that
noise can pass to your downstairs neighbors. In
free weights areas, proper high impact flooring
    is critical.

Layout Customer Journey
  • Every interaction your consumer has with your
company is included in the customer journey.
Consider their trip from beginning to end,
beginning with the minute they walk through the
    door.
  • The customer should be able to see where to go
from there. Everything should be clearly marked
in a good gym, and competent staff should be
there to offer assistance when needed. Consider
the logic behind how you organize the stretch,
functional, and free weights zones, as well as if
each zone is set up in the most functional and
    appealing way possible.

Keep it User Coach Friendly
  • Its all too easy to get caught up in discussions
about layouts, designs, equipment lists, and
storage solutions, but its critical to consider
how the gym will be used on a daily basis.
