Conditions for Eligibility to the TMA Scheme

• The scheme covers all exporters who export
  entitled agricultural products who have been
  recognized by their local Export Promotion
  Council, according to the FTP. The TMA scheme is
  a method of reimbursing a number of freight
  costs that are paid by the exporter, in addition
  to marketing expenses that are incurred for
  marketing their product.

Products that can be
included within the TMA scheme
The Scheme can be applied to all items that are
exportable within chapters 1-24 of ITC-HS. This
includes plantations as well as marine-related
products. Certain aspects which are not included
in Chapters 1-24 aren't covered by the Scheme
to offer assistance. An inventory of the items
listed is given in Annexure.

The coverage is part of the TMA scheme
Exports of Agri products to countries that have
specific permits, as described in the Annexure
(2) will be included within the TMA scheme. The
advantage of this scheme is available in terms of
marketing and transportation regardless of the
method of transportation, with the exception of
road transport. Annexure 2 contains a list of all
countries that export to the regions that are
covered by this scheme. For sea consignments, the
TMA scheme is calculated by the cost of shipping
payable by the exporter to container containers.

Assistance is not offered for containers with
less than a single container load (LCL) and
containers with eligible and ineligible cargo.
Note TMA is not available to cargo being
transported via breakbulk modes. Furthermore,
the 40-foot container is classified as two
TEUs. The assistance for consignment by air
depends on the freight cost per ton calculated
based on the weight of the export shipment
calculated on a full-ton basis, not accounting
for any portion of it.
