What is Mechanical fabrication and used for?
  • The term Metal Fabrication is quite broad. It
consists of processes like cutting, shaping, and
molding. The final product is made by doing
    different combinations of these processes.
  • When you use raw or semi-finished material, you
can create a variety of custom and stock products
by applying metal fabrication Adelaide processes.

3
  • In the majority of the cases, they use commonly
used metals and their alloys. Sheet metal, metal
rods, bars, and billets are used for creating
    various products.
  • Metal fabricators Adelaide begins the planning
stage. They order the correct material and use a
CNC machine to carry out the operations.

Processes used in Mechanical Fabrication
  • The range of processes used in mechanical
fabrication is quite wide. Other than production
processes, they offer finishing services also,
    e.g.,
  • Deburring
  • Polishing
  • Coating
  • Painting
  • Finishing is a separatesecondary process. It
doesnt shape or create a new product. Rather, it
    treats the outer surface(exterior).
  • Lets have an overview of commonly used metal
    fabrication Adelaide processes.

5
Cutting
  • You cut or split the material into smaller
sections. It is an initial process if the entire
process is large. In the earlier days, the sawing
process was being used. It has been superseded by
the modern cutting process. Normal tools, power
tools, and advanced CNC cutters are used in this
    process.

6
Forming
  • When the metal is distorted or bent to create a
new component, it is called forming. Rolling is
also a type of forming. Sheets or strips are fed
through parallel rollers that give the work piece
    its desired form.

7
Punching
  • When you want to make holes in metals, you
should use the punching process. When turrets
strike the metal through or into a die, uniquely
designed holes get created. Conventionally, this
process was done mechanically. However, in
    large-scale production, industrial CNC programmed
machines are used for this metal fabrication
    Adelaide processes.

8
Shearing
  • This process removes or trims the unwanted
material from the metal. Two blades are mounted
above and beneath the metal. It produces a long
    and straight cut.
  • The upper blade forces the metal down onto the
fixed lower blade. It fractures the piece and
    separates it.

9
Stamping
  • It is just an indentation instead of making a
hole. This process can be used to stamp images,
letters, or shapes into the metal workpiece.

10
Welding
  • This process joins two or more pieces of metal
using a combination of pressure and heat. The
different types of welding are Arc or Stick
Welding, MIG Welding, TIG Welding, Spot Welding,
    and Stud Welding.
