Once you have done your research and shortlisted
some facilities, visit them in person and do the
following. When you are visiting, the first
impression is most important. Does it seem to be
a place where your child will have fun? Is the
environment clean, vibrant, and welcoming?
Observe and pay attention to how the caregivers
and staff behave and interact with the children.
In general, the caregiver should be on the floor
while playing with the kids or holding them on
the lap. Do ask for the qualifications and
training of the caregivers.

the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a
maximum Child-Staff ratio of 31 with the maximum
group size of 6 for babies up to 12 months of
age.   Do a policy check. The center must have a
written policy for each of the following areas
health, illness, medication, nutrition,
discipline, transportation, media, and outdoor
play. If these are not clearly defined then you
should avoid them.

Check the licensing or accreditation of the
center. It should be licensed or registered with
the local government agencies. Check for any
violations that are outstanding against the
center. Ask for a visitation policy. Will you be
able to drop in and check your kid anytime? Are
you allowed to see all the areas where your child
may have access? Most importantly are visitors
screened and identity verified before they are
allowed to pick up children. Check if there is a
qualified health professional such as a doctor or
nurse associated with the center.

For fees and services, ask for a break up of
their costs. How are the payments to be made? If
you are late in picking up your child, will there
be extra charges? Are there any other extra
services available and their costs? How are
holidays and vacations scheduled? Finally, for
feedback, try and talk to parents whose kids are
already going to the daycare in Cypress CA. Do an
online search and look for reviews of the center.
a good and popular center will have lots of
reviews both positive and negative. do look at
them both to get overall feedback of the center.
