Ray Netflix review Worth watching or not
If you are a fan of Satyajit Rays (a well-known
director, illustrator, and author) writing, you
can definitely watch the series Ray recently
streaming on Netflix. Its an anthological series
with a collection of four short stories. The
stories are not interrelated, as every story is
going to give you a different experience. The
star cast is good in which some actors have
revived the life of the character whereas, some
have done disappointing work. Ray can be
explained as an attempt to pay a tribute to the
industry's masterpiece Satyajit Ray '' in his
100th birth year. Also, the directors and actors
had tried their best to support the story
retelling in modern times. Ray will leave you
with a mixed feeling in which two stories are
good to see, one has no meaning in my view, and
one story is the best attention-grabbing segment.
Actors did their job well in Forget Me Not,
Bahrupiya, and Hungama Hai Kyon Burpa. While in
the spotlight the narration and dialogue
delivery is not up to the mark. Forget Me Not
Directed by Srijit Mukherjee the story revolves
around an entrepreneur who was believed to have
a photographic memory. He had started questioning
his brilliance after an encounter with a strange
woman. The woman claims to be his acquaintance,
but the actor does not recognize her or even
visit the place she had mentioned. The lead role
is performed by Ali Fazal, the well-known actor
who is believed to bring life to the character of
the story. The story was quite good, but the
acting of the female stars flashed up to the
mark. Bahurupiya Bahrupiya revolves around a
makeup artist who was great at his work. This one
is also directed by Srijit Mukherjee. He fills
life in the character with his immense art of
makeup. But was not very popular or gets any
credit for his work. All of a sudden he became
very rich as one of his relatives left a will
for him in which he gets lots of money along with
a book. After receiving these gifts from his
late grandma, he started to believe that he can
question God too. Played by K.K Menon, this story
is simple and good. Spotlight Directed by
VasanBala, Spotlight is a peculiar segment. The
story is centered on an actor who is believed to
grab all the attention of the audience. But he
had a life-changing experience when he
confronted a lady who was known as God lady.
Harshvardhan Kapoor, the shining star of the
Kapoor family played the role and Radhika Madan
portrayed the God lady. The story was average,
but the acting was below average, though Radhika
managed to put herself up to the role. Hungama
Hai Kyon Burpa Helmed by Abhishek Chaubey, this
segment is the best one among the four segments.
Actor Manoj Bajpayee and Gajraj Rao had done a
splendid job. This one is said to be the perfect
deception of Satyajit Ray's story. Acting,
direction, dialogues everything was just perfect.
Manoj Bajpayee played a Ghazal singer and Gajraj
Rao played a former wrestler turned into a sports
journalist. They had shared a nostalgic
experience where they had met again under the
same circumstances after 10 years. The story is
a light-hearted comedy. This segment will
especially drive your heart into it. All in all,
the show is worth watching if you are a
literature fan. The work of the actors,
especially in Hungama Hai Kyon Burpa is
appreciable. You can skip the three segments and
jump directly into this one. You can say its a
one-time watch and good to go on a weekend.
