Defoamers or antifoaming agents are chemical
additives that hinder, diminish, break, or remove
foam formation in industrial process liquids.
Foaming is a significant challenge in the
industry, and it can impair product quality and
performance, prevent efficient filling of
containers, and defects in the surface coating.
Undesirable foam poses significant disadvantages,
and it is imperative to chemically break the
films of liquid that surround the bubbles of gas
released in the process. There are agents
formulated as per industry vertical challenges
and problems. Defoamers chemical suppliers have
intended potent additives to act with defoaming
or antifoaming properties. The purpose of
antifoaming agents is to leverage the elasticity
of the formed film layer. It provides a
surfactant diffusion that creates a shield with a
built-in weakness to become unstable.

NAQ Global is chemical-based supplies in superior
foam control solutions that are conventional,
eco-friendly and innovative to serve every
industry vertical. We specialize in defoamer and
antifoam agents formulated for water treatment,
adhesives and emulsions, defoamers for paint and
coatings and other applications. Our solutions
include oil-based, synthetic silicone,
water-based defoamers,

Water-based vs oil-based antifoaming agent
As the name suggests, the water-based antifoaming
agent contains water and oil-based foaming agents
infused with oil. A water-based anti-foaming
agent is a reformed silicon polydimethylsiloxane
defoamer emulsion designed to remove the foam in
a water-based system. In comparison, oil-based
antifoaming agents consist of dispersion mineral
oil used for severe foaming applications and
persistent foam reduction.
5
Aqueous defoamers are structured to eliminate
foams on wherein water is carrier or continuous
phase. They have been used by the pulp and paper
industry, agriculture, parts washing, food and
beverage, chemical manufacture, water and
wastewater treatment and other types of food
processing. To increase efficiency, the product
is sprinkled or added to the aqueous system
before the foaming starts. The concentration
varies as per the temperature, system
composition, viscosity and much more.
Water-based defoamers play a crucial role in
industrial application and do not affect the
quality of products and processes. These sorts of
defoamers are dispersed into water and
water-based media to effectively suppress the
foaming cycle. Usually, they are lower cost,
provide ease of application as they can dilute to
lower concentration and better performance.
6
Oil-based defoamers are formulated to
persistently handle complex foaming problems in
the paper, board, coating, water waste and
pulping industries. They are composed of active
dispersions of mineral oil that can hinder
persistent foam formation and in complex forming
applications. They are cost-efficient compared to
others and best suited for the process at a 90
degrees Celsius temperature.
