Title: Is Gallbladder Surgery Worth it?

1
Is Gallbladder Surgery Worth it?
Gallbladder surgery is the most common type of
surgery in the US.
2
The gallbladder is the pear-shaped organ that is
situated near your liver duodenum. It is used
by the body to deposit bile, the substance which
is required to dissolve fat during digestion.
After reaching the age of 40 years, in many
individual's gallbladders, the crystallization
phenomenon starts to appear due to the
gallbladder, stones are formed. Gallstones can
certainly make your life miserable. If you have
gallstones gallbladder disease, you might think
that the quickest solution is gallbladder
surgery. Sometimes these stones disappear on
their own, but sometimes they don't they start
obstructing the bile duct, causing pain. If this
happens, surgery is required. Gallbladder surgery
is the most common type of surgery in the US.
Millions have their gallbladder removed each
year. Gallbladder removal surgery is known as
laparoscopy or laparoscopic cholecystectomy. It
can be performed in 2 ways the direct way or
open way and the keyhole way.
3
There is one good thing about gallbladder
surgery, however, is that it is not one of the
most dangerous processes the human can function
seamlessly fine without a gallbladder. The
gallbladder is really only there to collect bile.
Once removed, the bile will flow directly to your
liver then the small intestine, where it then
helps process fats from digested foods.
Gallbladder surgery is known in medical terms as
cholecystectomy there are two ways that the
general surgeon has to choose from to remove your
gallbladder.
4
The most common form is laparoscopic
cholecystectomy, when the gallbladder is removed
through the small slit in the abdomen by using
tube-like instruments. It is the preferred method
as it is less painful, the patient only needs
general anesthesia that takes only around twenty
minutes to one hour to complete the recovery
time is fast. The open removal of the gallbladder
needs up to a 6-inch incision at the right side
of the upper abdomen this is only made if the
other method is not possible on a certain
patient. This is because it leaves scars, makes
the patient prone to infections of the biliary
tract, needs more time for the surgeon to
complete, lasts for more than an hour the
patient will have to stay in hospital for a few
days to recover. Once the gallbladder removal
surgery is complete, almost all patients will
never suffer any discomfort, pain again, the
body will usually function even with the organ
removed.
