Title: Does LASIK Require Anaesthesia?

1
Does LASIK Require Anaesthesia? The most asked
question during initial lasik consultation is
whether LASIK require anaesthesia? Well, the
quick answer is a NO! For other medical
surgeries, anaesthesia is given to a patient to
make them fall asleep. This makes the person
unconscious so that they cannot feel or see the
procedure. But for Lasik eye procedure it is
very important to stay conscious, one needs to
follow the instructions of the doctor so that
the proper procedure can be executed. Does it
mean you will be able to feel the pain during the
Lasik eye procedure? Hold on! It is not that
crucial. Patients fear that if they do not get
anaesthesia then they will see everything, and
it will be painful. But those who had Lasik
procedure know how it works. Before the Lasik
eye procedure begins, few numbing eye drops are
used. At the same time, the patient can hear and
follow the doctor's instructions. At the very
beginning of the Lasik procedure, the doctor asks
the patients to stare at the light for 60
seconds while the laser works. With the
development of the latest technologies and finest
doctors. Lasik eye procedure is becoming a quick
and accurate procedure so the patient can never
feel any pain or discomfort. There are a
negligible number of patients who may feel a bit
itchy during the procedure. But this is very
rare. Also, the most common question that a
patient may have before Lasik procedure is, will
there be any application of needles and
injections for local anaesthesia! And to your
relief, there is no application of painful
materials near your eyes. The entire Lasik
procedure takes around 10 minutes each eye!
