How Safe Are Women At Their Workplace ?
Any society that fails to harness the energy and
creativity of its women is at an enormous
disadvantage within the times.
Women are trying to interrupt far from norms and
standards set by society. They have been
marching for equal rights and fighting for his or
her rightful place within the world. True, that
the The MeToo movement has begun to smash down
centuries of patriarchy, but we still have a
protracted thanks to going. Especially, in
corporations, where the adage cap remains quite
prevalent.

? the least causing them to remain behind white
men, men of color, and white women. Women of
color comprise only 17 of entry-level roles and
4 of C-Suite positions. This underrepresentation
gets worse in senior management positions. Only
22 of C-suite executives are women. In fact, as
compared to 62 of men in managerial positions,
only 38 of ladies are promoted to be
managers. We are all right aware of the various
sorts of harassment faced by women within the
workplace that are increasing since the past
decade but now I feel the table has got to surely
start turning the opposite way round. Equal pay,
race and gender bias, non-inclusive workplaces
and lots of more such issues have always been a
hot topic within the discussions for years be it
on news channels, social media, newspapers, etc.
There are a lot of things that may be blamed for
all of the happenings but one major reason which
may be highlighted is molestation.
The statistics on harassment within the workplace
are incredibly shocking. And it varies from
place to position. As per the survey, 81 percent
of girls have faced some kind of harassment in
their lives. Sexual harassment can cause
anxiety, depression, lower self-esteem,
alienation, and overall degradation of their
physical and mental state. It is a disturbing
incontrovertible fact that women at work still
face harassment, this is often why many of them
even quit their jobs.

The Women within the Workplace report found that
35 of ladies full-time corporate sector jobs
have experienced harassment. Another study
estimates that 75 of girls who are subject to
such hostile situations won't report their
harassment. and particularly when the abuser is
someone in senior positions. 95 of Indias
women workers are employed within the informal
sector and find it difficult to access legal
mechanisms to report harassment. The majority
(56) of 655 districts failed to answer requests
to supply data on the functioning of local
committees to avoid workplace harassment and 31
of companies reserved weren't compliant with the
law (2015). Strict laws have come into the
picture to ensure the security of the ladies at
the workplace.

settlement or prosecution of the identical while
holding that gender equality as part of
fundamental rights under Articles 14 (Right to
Equality), 19 (Right to Freedom), 21 (Right to
Life) of the Constitution of India. Also,
harassment of girls at the Workplace (Prevention,
Prohibition Redressal) Act, 2013 provides for
the constitution of an internal committee to
watch and regulate complaints of molestation.
The Supreme Court of India pronounced its
judgment stating that harassment may be a grave
violation of the constitutional rights of girls,
a requirement for strict laws for the protection
of ladies at the workplace came to the forefront.
The POSH ACT was brought into effect in 2013.
Prevention of molestation (POSH) could be a law
because the name suggests, was brought in to
shield women from any harassment at work
together with providing a secure,
non-discriminatory environment within their
workplaces. Most of the organizations implement
this act adhere to a policy towards harassment
of girls.

How Safe Are Women At Their Workplace ?
This Act has provided a structured definition of
harassment within a workplace. it's broadened
its concept helped in safeguarding the
protection of ladies within the corporates of
recent India. It is 2021. The globe talks about
progression and creating an environment where
all people are treated equally. But, why does it
stop when it involves women? Why does it happen
that ladies are expected to balance between their
career and residence while men are purported to
be the breadwinners of the family? The govt and
every one of the stakeholders involved in filing,
investigating the case, and conducting trials
must enforce the laws with speed and
transparency. A long road has to be taken that
we'd like champions, mindset, and behavioral
changes altogether in strata of the society
where gender sensitivity and gender equality are
critical for the protection of the ladies.
