The University has been accredited as a deemed
university by the Department of Higher Education,
on the advice of the University Grants
Commission. This has come mainly because of its
important contributions to technical and
professional education.
As a deemed university, it enjoys some special

The university has 9 colleges/institutes that o
er degree-level courses in various disciplines,
such as Undergraduate programs in the field of
engineering, medicine, pharmacy, business,
nursing, biotechnology, agriculture, and

engineering, medicine, pharmacy, business,
nursing, biotechnology, science, humanities,
environment, nanotechnology, materials science,
agriculture, and law.

Currently, more than 600 research scholars are
pursuing their Ph. D, in thirteen research
centres, for basic and fundamental research. 247

The university has an excellent campus of its
own. It is constructed on a land area of 451
acres (1.83 square km). Hostel facilities are
available here for its students, both boys and
girls, who are pursuing various courses at the

hostels, and up to 5000 boys in 24 boys
