Title: Digital vs Offset Printing

Digital VS Offset Printing
  • Process What to Choose

2
  • In the printing industry, many printing processes
are used to meet customer demand. Among the most
used are offset printing and digital printing.
Both have their advantages and allow qualitative
    prints of printed media.

OFFSET PRINTING AN IDEAL PRINTING PROCESS FOR
LARGE PRINTS
4
HOW DOES OFFSET PRINTING WORK?
  • Offset printing is a printing technique in its
own right. Indeed, this technique has a complex
and unique operation. Offset printing is a
mechanism made up of three cylinders, all of
which have their part to play in printed matter.
On the first cylinder, a flexible aluminum plate
is present to represent the image of the visual
on the plate. The second cylinder is made of a
layer of rubber gum to accommodate the image to
be printed on the paper. Finally, the last
cylinder reproduces the printing with great
precision and in high quality. The paper is thus
pressed on the rubber cylinder to make the visual
    appear on the support.

THE ADVANTAGES OF OFFSET PRINTING
  • Offset printing is a printing process that offers
many advantages. Indeed, this printing technique
makes it possible to reduce costs for all
high-volume printing. For example, for newspaper
printing, offset is the most suitable printing
technique. In addition, offset printing provides
high quality printing thanks to the precision of
these three cylinders. The prints are made on
large format sheets. Thus, it is possible to
print many visuals on the same sheet. It is
therefore a real asset for professionals in order
    to reduce printing costs.

Digital Printing

7
  • Digital printing is a popular printing process in
the printing industry. Indeed, this type of
process is regularly used by professionals and
individuals to print documents. Using computer
data, it is possible to print media quickly and
in high quality. This type of printing is used
every day whether in the office or at home. This
technique appeared thanks to the evolution of
computing. With this process, there are several
types of printing such as, for example, printing
with liquid ink jets, fired inks or even powder
inks. Inkjet printing is preferred for vinyl
printing as it naturally penetrates the fibers of
    the backing.

8
THE ADVANTAGES OF DIGITAL PRINTING
  • This printing technique has many advantages.
Indeed, it is ideal for optimizing printing
times, for printing media in small quantities,
for reducing costs but also for its ease of
    printing.

9
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF PRINTERS FOR
DIGITAL PRINTING?
  • There are two types of printers for digital
printing namely laser and jet. The jet printer is
the most common as it is a printer found in
offices or at home. The cartridges are made of
liquid ink. Rather, the laser printer is used
with a powder ink that settles on the paper and
adheres the paper in a single pass.

10
Offset or Digital Printing What to Choose
11
  • Depending on the printing needs of your
customers, it may be worth choosing between
offset printing or digital printing. For example,
for large-run printing such as magazines or
newspapers, offset printing is a good addition to
reducing printing costs. However, if your
customers want to print business cards or other
printing media then digital printing is
recommended and makes it easier to print the
    media in a timely manner.
