  • Designing a kitchen or bathroom can be
challenging. These are spaces that you will use
every day, so you want them to feel timeless and
last long term. At the same time, you want a
space that feels stylish and on trend. Here are
some great ways to give your kitchen and bathroom
a fresh, modern look that will last for years to
    come.

  • Kitchens and bathrooms do not need to look
matchy-matchy when you are choosing your faucet,
hardware, and lighting. Pair satin nickel drawer
pulls with a matte brass kitchen faucet and matte
brass pendant lighting. This lets the hardware
become a neutral and makes the lighting and the
faucet pop more in the space. Dont be afraid to
mix metals in your bathroom either. A sleek gold
frame from MirrorMate, such as the Solana Modern
Gold or the Kelso Gold Washed Silver, makes your
master bathroom mirror stand out and looks modern
and elegant paired with black faucets and
    lighting.

  • One trend in home design is making the kitchen
island a focal point. You can achieve this by
painting it a color that contrasts with the rest
of the cabinets, by choosing a different
countertop material than the rest of the space,
or by a combination of both! If you are wanting a
warmer, more organic look, consider choosing a
concrete or butcher block top for your island. If
you want something modern and sleek, opt for a
quartz material with a waterfall edge.

5
  • For the past few years, homeowners tended to
favor more neutral color palettes. While neutral
walls are still popular, dont be shy about
adding color to your kitchen or bathroom
cabinets. A crisp navy such as Hale Navy from
Benjamin Moore or a green such as Pewter Green
from Sherwin-Williams looks beautiful on kitchen
cabinets when paired with a white or lighter
colored quartz. Consider a coastal inspired blue
such as Labrador Blue from Benjamin Moore for
your bathroom vanity. If you are scared to commit
to a color, you can add some color with a navy,
aqua or turquoise frame from MirrorMate Frames
Ocean Collection. Homeowners are also getting
creative with their kitchen backsplashes as well.
Instead of a basic white subway tile, you can use
the backsplash to add more color and personality.
If you are afraid of committing to a color scheme
across your entire kitchen, try using the
colorful backsplash over a coffee bar or
workstation so it does not overwhelm the space.

  • If you are renovating a kitchen or bathroom, one
current trend is adding multiple appliances or
prep stations to make sure the space is more
functional. If space allows, consider adding a
dishwasher drawer in your kitchen in addition to
a regular dishwasher. This takes up the same
amount of space as a standard drawer and solves
the problem of the top rack of the dishwasher
always filling up first. Another item to splurge
on is a beverage center for your kitchen. These
smaller-scale refrigerators provide a place for
water and soft drinks allowing you to fill up
space in the main fridge. If budget and space are
not an issue, opt for two kitchen islands. This
allows you to have a space to prep and another to
serve. In a shared bathroom, consider separate
sinks and water closets for the ultimate luxury.

  • Whether you are doing a full-scale kitchen and
bath remodel, or just a quick makeover in an
existing space, these tips on the latest trends
will give you some ideas to start your project so
you get the dream kitchen and bathroom you are
    looking for.
