5 Indicators You May Have To Replace Your Tyres
2
Introduction
  • You have your private registration in place, the
right accessories boosting your car's performance
and the correct driving attitude showcasing your
awareness of traffic rules. But did you know that
each of these aspects would hardly mean anything
if your tyres are not in order?
  • Let's take a look at the distinctive warning
signs indicating a requirement for tyre
    replacement.

3
Reduced Tread Depth
  • Every car tyre should have a minimum tread depth
of 1.6 millimetres. Any less than this renders it
unsafe on the road. This is because a decreased
tread depth results in a reduced grip and
traction on the road, which can cause your
vehicle to spiral out of control.

4
Ageing Signs
  • Tyres age irrespective of usage. Temperature,
    storage conditions, driving style, pressure,
speed etc. contribute to the life of tyres. These
impact the performance and longevity of tyres
considerably. You would need to keep a close
watch on your tyres for signs of fatigue.

5
Side-wall Cracks
  • With exposure to the sun, the oils in the rubber
compound of tyres start evaporating and cracks or
cuts begin to show on the side-walls. These
cracks indicate that your tyre is on the brink of
developing a leak. On serious cases, these may
even lead to a blow out.

6
Tyre Vibration
  • Excessive vibration of tyres could mean that your
car's tyres are misaligned or the balance is off.
It could also be an indicator of internal tyre
problems. Vibrations, if left unattended for a
long period of time, could result in wearing of
    tyres.

7
Abnormal Bulges
  • Sometimes the internal frames of tyres get
damaged and allow air pressure to affect the
outer layers of the tyre. This manifests as
bulges or blisters that extend outwards. These
could result in tyre blow outs and similar
    catastrophes if not replaced immediately.

8
Conclusion
  • It is important to check your car tyres for
cautionary signs of replacement every now and
then. This would eliminate any risk on the road.
