How To Inspect An Aircraft Exhaust System
2
Aircraft exhaust system is a very crucial
component to make sure that the aircraft flies
safely and lands safe and sound. There are some
tips to follow while inspecting the exhaust
system of an aircraft. Aviation welders must
follow these tips to inspect the exhaust in a
thorough manner, so that there is no chance that
any vulnerable or weak spot is neglected.
Introduction
3
Aviation welders must remove all the shrouds and
shields that cover the muffler. It will make sure
that the welders can see the muffler to the
farthest possible spot to make sure there is no
hidden spot that can be seen. It will enable the
welders to reach deep into the muffler. It will
minimize the chances of any negligence that can
be avoided by removing shrouds and shields of the
muffler.

4
During the inspection of an aircrafts exhaust
system, the aviation welders keep their eyes open
to detect any crack or leakage evidence. If there
is any spot that looks like cracked and about to
leak, it must be properly dealt with to avoid any
consequences.
Look for leaks and cracks
5
If there is no evident leak or crack visible to
human eye, there is another way of finding a leak
or crack, and that is a pressure test. It must be
carried out to absolutely make sure that there is
no crack and leak in the exhaust system of an
aircraft.
Pressure test must be performed
6
Aviation welders must also make sure to inspect
the heat studs, fins and other heat sink
materials of the exhaust system. It will make the
inspection process complete and thorough.

distortions it means there is a need to repair
the surface. Welders must be sure that they have
inspected every surface and area of the exhaust
system.
