Maul Blog shared an important content on Indian
Environmental Law. Meaning Environmental Law
consist of all legal guidelines and rules that
are required to protect our environment. Every
country has enacted laws regarding environmental
protection and pollution control. In India,
there are several acts for environment protection
that says pollution of the environment is the
duty of government. Laws and policy of India,
concerning the protection of the environment, a
measure taken to reserve climate change and
achieve a zero-carbon economy. Objective The
objective of environmental law is to preserve and
also to protect the environment and the main
objective of environmental law is to protect the
environment and create rules for how people can
use natural resources. It is the practice of
protecting the environment from individual,
organization and government. How and when law
passed? It was the Bhopal gas tragedy which
necessitated the government of India to enact a
comprehensive environmental legislation, which
includes rules relating to storing, handling and
use of hazardous waste. On the basis of these
rules, the Environment Protection Act, 1986 is
enforced by the Central Pollution Control Board.
There are three acts covered under this act are-

  • The National Green Tribunal established under the
    National Green Tribunal Act of 2010. It has
    jurisdiction overall environmental cases dealing
    with substantial environmental questions and
    acts covered under the Water Act, 1974.
  • The Public Liability and Insurance ACT, 1991.
  • National Green Tribunal Act.
  • Conclusion
  • Due to the environmental laws, our natural
    environment is protected and it makes human life
    possible and defines our cultural environment
    who we are. It is therefore essential that our
    population and economic growth are
    environmentally sustainable. Therefore
    environmental law is much needed.
