INTRODUCTION TO ADA
  • American Disability Association supports children
with disabilities, as well as their families, so
    they may live abundant lives.
  • As a network of support and resources, ADA
creates new opportunities that empower and
enhance the quality of life for children living
with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and
    other disabilities.
  • Many individuals and families managing a
disability are not aware of the wide array of
services available to them, or they do not know
how to apply for these benefits in a way that is
likely to succeed. ADA fills those gaps where
schools, insurance, and regional centers fail to
offer the services your family requires.
  • This includes providing them with a safe
    environment, resources for therapies, the
opportunity to learn, and the financial
assistance to live a fulfilling life.

WE BELIEVE
  • American Disability Association is a non-profit
    organization supporting children with
    disabilities and their families.
  • ADA fills those gaps where schools, insurance,
and regional centers fail to offer the services
    your family requires.
  • We Believe
  • Transparency, integrity, and excellence are key
  • ADA believes that an organization should be
    devoted to integrity, accountability, and
    excellence in all it accomplishes.
  • Collaboration is essential
  • ADA believes that we together should all work for
the common good, because children deserve
    compassion, encouragement, and respect.
  • Diversity is beautiful
  • ADA believes that children with special needs
have the right to equal treatment and the chance
to live in a healthy, inclusive environment.
  • Children Come First
  • ADA believes that all children with disabilities
are defined by their own gifts, capabilities, and
intrinsic value, not by their disability.

IN-HOME SUPPORTIVE SERVICES
  • What Is In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS)
  • In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) is a program
designated to help children as well as the
elderly who have disabilities to safely remain in
their own homes when they are not able to fully
care for themselves. It is an alternative to
out-of-home care in nursing homes and
    institutions.
  • In-Home Supportive Services provide crucial
financial benefits for families of children with
    developmental disabilities. Unfortunately,
applying for and receiving these benefits are
notoriously difficult and many families give up
after encountering road block after road block.
  • In-home supportive services (IHSS) is a
    california government program that provides
financial assistance for caretakers of children
    with developmental disabilities, including
autism, cerebral palsy, and down syndrome.
  • IHSS is the best financial program offered in
California. In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) is
a Medi-Cal program that provides support to
children with special needs such as personal care
and assistance with household chores so they can
    remain in their own homes.

DONATION FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITY
  • When you have a child with a disability, like
autism, Down syndrome and cerebral palsy, its
tough to navigate the school system.
Unfortunately, school districts often worsen this
situation by not supplying the special education
support that children with special needs are
    entitled.
  • We are a not-for-profit organization committed to
helping children with disabilities get the help
    they need.
  • Are you feeling the stress of having to take care
of the health, educational and emotional needs of
your child with a disability? Or are you trying
to cope with a cutting your hours at work and
lowering your income or having to pay someone
    else for childcare?
  • In order to effectively advocate for your child,
you must know the wording and terminology. The
school might use language you do not understand.
This immediately puts you at a disadvantage.
  • School psychologists, special education teachers,
and other related services professionals have
gone to school for many years to understand how
to test and interpret results. Most parents are
not trained in the language that is used to
    report data.

CHILD THERAPY RESOURCES
  • Children with special needs often benefit from a
    variety of therapeutic interventions.
  • Depending on the special need, a child may have
    physical, occupational, behavioral,
psychological, and or speech therapy, in addition
to tutoring and other types of intervention.
  • There are also many forms of special needs
therapy that help with pediatric conditions, such
as music therapy, equine therapy, sensory tools
    and toys, and more.
  • For children with special needs, sometimes
several differing therapies have a role to play
in helping them reach their potential.
  • There are 4 types of Therapy Resources
  • Behavioral Therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Speech Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
