Title: Membrane filtration wastewater treatment

Membrane Filtration Wastewater Treatment
  • Green Method Engineering
  • https//

  • Membrane filtration, widely used in chemical and
    biotechnology processes, is already established
as a valuable means of filtering and cleaning
wastewater and industrial process water. More
recently, tubular and spiral membrane plants have
begun to be used to filter impurities from
drinking water in regions where conventional
    treatment proves to be uneconomical.

  • As advancements are made in membrane production
and module design, capital and operating costs
continue to decline. The membrane processes
    discussed here are microfiltration(MF),ultrafiltra
    tion(UF),nanofiltration(NF), and reverse osmosis

  • The use of reverse osmosis is well-established
for desalination of drinking water and the
production of deionized water for process use.
    Ultrafiltration and microfiltration, which-unlike
    reverse osmosis and nanofiltration-utilize porous
membranes, are now becoming increasingly common
    in water and wastewater treatments.

  • Reverse osmosis can effectively remove nearly all
inorganic contaminants from water. RO can also
    effectively remove radium, natural organic
    substances, pesticides, cysts, bacteria and
viruses. RO is particularly effective when used
in series with multiple units. Disinfection is
also recommended to ensure the safety of water.
