• We are gradually reaching towards the date and
  day when we celebrate our country's Independence
  Day (August 15th). Most of us are planning
  vacations as it is going to be a long weekend,
  and that is fine, but we should also celebrate
  Independence Day in a way that kids remember and
  feel proud about it.
• Patriotism is the love and respect towards our
  nation. Instilling this feeling in children will
  develop them as responsible citizens. Small kids
  cannot understand speech or essay about nation
  and patriotism. We have to employ play way
  methodology to help them understand the
  importance of national festivals and their
  significance to the nation.

• 1. Tell them stories of freedom fighters
• Storytelling is the best way to convey your
  message to kids. White Canvas Preschool has a
  library full of books loved by our kids. We keep
  telling them the stories of freedom fighters such
  as Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru, Sardar Patel,
  Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Netaji Subhash Chandra
  Bose, Rani Lakshmi Bai, and other freedom
  fighters. These stories will teach him the values
  of sacrifice, independence, and self-respect.  
• 2. Teach respect for national symbols
• Children should know the importance of national
  symbols such as the national anthem, flag, animal
  etc. This is something that we at White Canvas
  Preschool emphasize, by teaching our kids to
  treat these national symbols with respect and
  understand their importance.   
• 3. Encourage participation in patriotic
  activities
• Independence Day and Republic Day are two
  important national festivals we celebrate in our
  school. We organize fancy dress, storytelling
  competitions in school, among other activities
  and presentations. 
• 4. Follow what we teach our kids
•  Finally and perhaps most importantly, to teach
  patriotism to children, we must be patriotic as
  well. Children get inspired by their parents and
  educators. Therefore, we should behave as a
  responsible citizen.
