What is the Sperm Test?
Treating male factor infertility begins with some
hormone blood tests along with semen analysis.
This is a simple and painless procedure for
collecting sperm samples. The results of the
semen analysis will evaluate sperm count and
motility.

• Normal values of sperm analysis defined by the
  World Health Organization (WHO) is
• Ejaculation Volume of semen should be 1.5 - 5.0
  ml.
• Sperm Concentration per ejaculation needs to be
  20million.
• Ideal Motility needs to be 50.

How many Sperm counts are necessary for IUI
success?
The success of IUI relies on the sperm's ability
to swim and locate the egg, high sperm count and
sperm motility are vital factor for a successful
IUI procedure. Generally, the number of motile
sperms after processing the sperm sample should
be approximately 5 million or more for a
successful IUI. The success rate is with a
sample that has 1 to 5 million motile cells
considerably lower, and processed sperm samples
that include less than 1 million motile sperm
cells are very unlikely to lead to a successful
fertilization.

Factors important for a Successful Cycle

• Some factors that are directly related to the
  success of IUI cycle are
• Age of woman if the potential mother is below
  30, the chances of success are better.
• Semen quality total motile sperm count should be
  above 5 million.
• Timing IUI occurring 12 - 36 hours after the
  trigger shot is more likely to get success.
• IUI is not recommended when the female partner
  has blocked Fallopian tubes, previous pelvic
  infection or moderate to severe Endometriosis.
