Book A Agra Tour
Right from the opulent gardens outside the Taj
Mahal, the four minarets framing the monument to
Jaalis made from marble, and intricate patterns
engraved on the walls and the ceiling, there are
plenty of reasons to book a agra tour right away.
For a no-fuss experience, here is a guide which
will let you have an effortless journey to the
city of love.
3
Get to Know the Visiting Hours
One of the first considerations you should make
when planning a trip to Taj Mahal is the
timing. Taj Mahal allows visitors from morning
till evening all days of the week except for
Fridays.  So it would be wise to plan your visit
during the first days of the week as on Saturday
and Sunday the place remains crowded by visitors
which is not a good thing as it would prevent you
from enjoying the place fully. Also get to know
beforehand the visiting hours so you are not let
down in case you reach the site late in the
evening. Early morning is the best time to
savor the true beauty of this monument as you can
capture the pictures of the historic building
bathed in the rays of rising sun. This means you
have to make your way to the ticket counter at
least an hour before the gates to the Taj Mahal
open. The monument remains open from 6 am to 5 pm.
4
Book your Taxi/Train a Few Days Before
Your transport is key to a fuss-free visit to Taj
Mahal. Agra is just a few hours away from Delhi
and you can easily manage to visit Taj Mahal tour
by car hire from Delhi early in the morning. But
if you are planning to visit the monument in the
morning itself, start your journey a day before
the day of your visit. Taking a public
transport would be a foolish idea if you cant
afford any delay. Book a cab a few days before
your intended journey date to save time. Also,
work out the exact time it would take you to
reach Taj Mahal from your hotel and book a taxi
at the right time so you reach the Taj Mahal
before the gates open.  In any case make sure
that you reach the ticket counter by 6 30 pm by
all means. Also, ensure you return to Delhi at
the right time and book your cab accordingly for
your return to Delhi.
5
Buy Your Tickets Online
Taj Mahal sees thousands of visitors every day
which means you might have to struggle to get the
tickets by standing in long queues which are
going to deplete your energy levels. If you wish
to save yourself from the stress of standing in
queues, book your tickets online. The ticket
costs just 40INR for Indians and 1000INR for
foreigners but you need to buy them at least a
week before.  You can also get the tickets at
Humayuns Tomb and Red Fort in Delhi. This will
give you plenty of time to experience all aspects
of the historical building. In case you are
planning to visit Taj Mahal at night, you can do
so during the full moon. The timings for full
moon visit to the Taj Mahal are from 8 30 pm to
12 30 am. You can buy the night tickets online
or from the ticket counter between 10 am to 6 pm.
6
Book A Hotel
If you plan to visit the Taj Mahal during the
full moon or are planning to travel a day before
the visit date, you have to make arrangements for
a comfortable stay around Taj Mahal. Look up for
information on the travel websites to select a
hotel close to
the building that offers a comfortable stay. You
can negotiate with your tour organizer about the
various staying options available in Agra for a
problem free trip.
7
Know Which Gates to Enter From
You need to do your own research to find the best
way to enter the complex. Taking a guide with you
would help in making your visit a smooth sail. It
would be best to ask your travel agent to book a
licensed guide in Agra as chances of getting
duped by a tout are high in Agra,
especially if you are a foreigner. Whichever
guide you hire, make sure that he holds an
identity card and license as only approved guides
are allowed inside the monument. There are plenty
of touts roaming around the Taj Mahal who claims
to be registered guides. It is best to maintain a
distance from them. If your visit is a part
of Agra Tour Package, then your tour
operator might provide a guide with you.
8
Enter the Monument
The lawns outside Taj Mahal would give you the
best views of the building. Explore the lawns and
the minarets outside the Taj Mahal. Get inside
the monument when your turn comes. Tourists have
to stand outside the building and are let inside
in batches.
Capture the beauty of the monument which is going
to surprise you with its magnificence. Take your
time to gaze at the beautiful motifs on walls and
ceilings inside the building. When you come out
from the building take your time to view the
surrounding areas.
9
Visit the Museum
The visit to Taj Mahal wont be complete if you
do not spare some time to see the museum. Taj
museum is free for Taj Mahal visitors. It houses
old pictures of the Taj Mahal, drawings and many
other artifacts discovered during the excavation
in Agra. These reveal the details about the
construction of the building and lifestyle of the
Mughals. Its a great way to acquaint you with
the history of the Mughals. Take Pictures Away
from the Crowds Once you are inside the monument
you wont be able to capture the pictures of the
building due to the presence of a large number of
tourists. Also if you are not professional
photographer chances of being allowed to click
pictures inside the building are slim. It would
be best to take pictures of the monument from
Mehtab Bagh or Mughal gardens which will give you
the best views of the great monument. If you
still want to capture the close up views of Taj
Mahal, you can do so on Fridays when the mosque
opens for prayers.
10
Get to Know About the Dos and Donts
Before you start your journey to the heritage
monument, you need to acquaint yourself about the
dos and donts inside the Taj Mahal. Get to know
about things you are allowed to take inside the
building and also about the type of clothes
you should wear. If you are a woman you are
expected not to wear clothes that go well with
the crowds and also do not disturb the sanctity
of the building. Food is not allowed inside Taj
Mahal neither is heavily stuffed bags. You can
take a tiny bag, a water bottle and a camera to
pass the security test. Do not try to rush inside
the building, wait for your turn patiently
without disturbing the atmosphere of the holy
place.
