    collection strategies that may or might not be
    considered harassing by a few individuals.

  1. Communicate with consumers in any way (other than
    litigation) after receiving a written notice
    saying that the consumer wants no additional
    communication or will not pay the alleged debt.
  2. Contact consumers by telephone outside of those
    hours of 800 a.m. to 900 p.m.
  3. Get in touch with a customer proven to be
    represented by a lawyer.
  4. Communicate with consumers in their place of
    employment after being advised that this is
    unacceptable or illegal by the employer.
  5. Threaten detain or legal activity that's either
    not allowed or not really meant.
  6. Call or engage any individual in telephone
    conversation repeatedly or continuously with
    intent to annoy, abuse, or harass any person at
    the called number.

    collection attempts by the debt collector after
    receipt of a consumer's written request for
    confirmation of a debt created over the 30 day
    validation period.
  • 8. Pretend he or she's a lawyer or law
    enforcement officer.
  • 9. Publish a consumer's address or name on a "bad
    debt" list.
  • 10. Use abusive or profane language employed in
    the course of communication related to the debt.
  • 11. Seek unjustified quantities.
  • 12. Report false information on a consumer's
    credit report or threaten to do so.
  • 13. Communicate with third parties about the
    character of debts (other than the customer's
    spouse or lawyer).
