What To Look For In A Wedding Photographer
  • Time
  • When looking for a wedding photographer, there
are a few things you need to keep in mind. You
want a photographer who has the time for you.
Time is a critical factor You dont want someone
who is running from one event to the next, and on
the other hand, you dont want someone who has
too much time on their hands. Both scenarios can
be a bad thing for you. Too busy, they may not
personalize your wedding, too much time, they may
keep changing things around, and you may end up
staying in one pose for a very long time.
  • Personality
  • Another thing to look out for is, do you get
along with them. This may seem like something you
would and wouldnt think about but, it is a very
critical part of picking the right person for the
job. If the photographer can understand you and
what you are looking for, the process will run a
lot smoother, making that already stressful day,
a little less stressful. Also, it would be good
to make sure you understand the photographer.

What To Look For In A Wedding Photographer
  • Understand their process
  • Make sure you know the operation of the
photographer who will be at your special day. If
they can explain how they get the right lighting
and all the essential details to get the perfect
picture without struggling, means they are an
expert, and you can trust them.
  • Creativity
  • Make sure the photographer can be creative with
their photographs. Creativity is what makes your
special day, even more special so test their
ability to get creative. Creativity makes the
pictures unique, and of course, you want yours to
be as special as that day.
  • Attention to detail
  • Having a photographer who is creative is not the
only thing needed to make that big day, great.
They need to be able to pay attention to detail.
You may find a photo you love, and dont see
someone sneezing in the background, which makes
that picture no longer perfect Unless you want
to give that person a hard time for that! But
having someone who will pay attention to detail
can make or break the best picture of the night.

Choosing The Photographer For Your Big Day
  • Wedding photographers come in all shapes and
sizes. Personality is key. A bride will spend
more time with her photographer than she will her
wedding party. You will need someone you live
with. Questions to ask yourself before making
that final choice is how well do you communicate
with him/her? Can you stand to spend hours
hearing their voice as they say stay there, look
this way, be silly, or any other instructions.
Weddings can be stressful so the last question
you may ask is can they handle you!?
  • Wedding photographers all have strengths and
weakness. Once you have narrowed your list and
making those appointments be sure to write a list
of questions you may have for them. Ask them
upfront what are their weakness or strengths.
That should get the sales pitch going! Weaknesses
    could include difficulty shooting night-time
    weddings or indoor/outdoor venues. Strengths
could be catching those candid moments or making
    themselves invisible.

Choosing The Photographer For Your Big Day
  • Wedding photographers should have a portfolio.
The bride and groom should take a moment to look
at the earlier work of the photographer.
Sometimes you may see at portfolios online or in
office. You may want to find ratings or reviews
as well. Using their portfolio can help you
choose what kind of and how many pictures you
want. Looking at a photographers work can also
    show their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Wedding photographers always have a fee for their
work. You want to get the best bang for your
buck. Some wedding photographers offer package
deals. Some packages may include engagement
    sessions, high-resolution photos, or different
poses. You may want to think about is that
2,000-dollar package worth it or not.
Photographers may also charge for extra photos
taken or if they run over the allotted time for
    the job.
  • Wedding photographers should deliver your photos
promptly. During the high season of weddings, a
photographer may take longer to deliver. This is
not always a bad thing. No one wants their photos
to come in a hurry only to find out years later
    they are poor quality.

7
Important Factors That Really Matters When
Choosing The Right Wedding Photographer
  • Expertise / Skill set
  • Wedding photographers use different styles and
techniques capturing photos, one may be good with
digital but not with classic or film. It is
necessary that you hire the one that can perform
exactly to your weddings motif. You can qualify
them by checking on the photos they taken
    previously.
  • Their availability
  • Wedding photographers that are known in the
industry are always busy. Their schedules are
always taken it is very rare that they have
vacant days especially during peak season so if
you want to hire a reliable professional you need
to speak with them months ahead. If he or she is
not available on your wedding date, there is no
reason spending time speaking with them.
  • Rates
  • Take this consideration very wisely, not all
wedding photographers that are good with what
they do charge high and vice versa. More than the
rate of their service, consider the quality of
    their work.

8
Wedding Photographer Amateur vs. Professional
  • Wedding photographers who classify themselves as
amateurs may have real talent. Their pictures
may speak those thousand words. What makes them
an amateur is most likely the way they run their
business. Photography can be a job or a hobby.
For the beginner, photography is most likely a
hobby. Photos are taken for fun, and they have
photographed a birthday party, families, or even
a wedding or two. Amateur photographers may run a
business to make extra money but are not as
serious as the professional. An advantage to an
amateur is the cost would be lower. For small
budget weddings, this could be the way to go.
While they may have admirable talent, lower
prices, or a schedule that works for you, one may
have to take a close look at their work before
    deciding to hire.
  • Wedding photographers who market themselves as
professionals are usually ones who are making
their livelihood through this art form. This is
their business. Time continues to be put into
    marketing, updating websites, building
portfolios, and proving they have what it takes.
    Professional photographers have had more
experience in the field and have a studio. The
prices asked for services are higher due to the
confidence a professional has in their work and
years of experience. Schedules of these
professional photographers are usually full. If
you want to book them, you should do that early.
Even though these wedding photographers call
themselves professional, a client will need to
take the time to investigate, just as he/she
    would an amateur.

9
Choosing The Right Wedding Photographer
  • First and foremost, are they likable? Personality
is broad and varied but a wedding day is not the
time to find out that the bride and grooms
    personalities clashes with the photographers.
The wedding photos are fun, but after a long and
stressful day, they can be tedious. Conflicts
with a photographer that will drain any enjoyment
from the process and just add to the post-wedding
    exhaustion.
  • Next, it is essential that the wedding
photographer and couple have similar tastes. Does
the couple like a more artistic approach? Maybe
they want a more true-to-life style of
    photography.
  • Considering the photographers experience is
important. This part can be tricky. A more
experienced photographer may appear to be the
best choice, but sometimes experience can lead to
stagnation. In this instance, the photographer
might be averse to doing things in different
ways. He or she could also be behind on the
latest technologies, trends, and styles. On the
other hand, a less experienced photographer may
be more flexible but not as professional.

10
Choosing The Right Wedding Photographer
  • The bride and groom should inquire as to what
    services their photographer offers. Some
photographers offer packages that include an
engagement photo shoot. Will he or she cover the
entire wedding day? What about their capabilities
    for editing images?
  • Finally, in what format will the photos be
accessible? In addition to physical prints and
albums, will the images be provided in a digital
form? Can they be accessed through a portal for
family and friends? On what media will they be
presented? DVD? External hard drive? Does that
cost extra? Also, will the photographer be
backing while they are being taken to ensure they
    wont be lost?
