This article describes how to solve issues that
may occur in Microsoft Office applications after
upgrading Windows 10. Use the following methods
in the order in which they are presented. If you
try one of these methods and it does not help, go
to the next method. There are some problems and
the solutions to fix the Microsoft Office issues.
  • Issue 1 Error when trying to open MS office
    applications
  • In Word application shows An error trying to
    open a file.
  • In Excel, it might get a message shows This
    file is corrupt and can not be opened.
  • In Powerpoint it might occur unable to start or
    it could not read a file.
  • Solutions
  • Fix Update MS OFFICE
  • You can update each application of MS OFFICE
    individually. Lets try with MS Excel
  • applications.
  • Open MS Excel and click on File tab.
  • Go to Account and Select Update options.
  • Click on Update now button.
  • Issue 2 Office Documents Download from Email
    Attachments would not open.
  • After upgrading Windows, all the Office
    documents, such as Excel, Word, PPT etc., are not
    opening from email attachments.
  • Solutions
  • Fix 1 Disable Protected View

  • Select Trust Center and click on Trust Center
    Settings button.
  • From the next window, click on Protected View.
  • Then ,uncheck Enable Protected View for files
    origin from the Internet check box.
  • Fix 2 Reinstall MS Office Suite
  • After following these methods, try to open email
    attachments, if it's not working, reinstall your
    MS Office suite. Before installation, completely
    uninstall it from your computer. Then, open
    downloaded documents.
  • If you cant open Office document even after
    Office suites reinstalled, then there is chance
    of document corruption. To fix the corrupted
    documents, you can make use of File Repair Tool.
