If you are a passionate Acer laptop user, you
would know that most of their laptops are
equipped with HDD which is a Hard Disk drive.
Though there is nothing wrong with its feature if
you want to experience a more developed and
improve the performance of your PC, you should
switch to SSD (Solid State Drive). At the present

Step 1 Prepare A Clone For Your Current
HDD Firstly, you have to create a full backup of
your system.
  • Prepare a system image backup Go to Control
    Panel gt press WinX keyboard shortcut and select
    Control Panel gt find System and Security and look
    for "Save backup copies of your files with File
    History".
  • Now, go to "System Image Backup" to create a
    system image on an external data storage or
    network location.
  • Move large folders which you don't need on the
    upgraded system. Typically the HDD is larger than
    SSD, if this is the case, move larger folders
    containing your videos, photos, games, etc. to a
    to your external data storage disk to make ample
    space on your drive for cloning to the smaller
    Solid State Disk.

Step 2 Connect to SSD
  • Once you have the set up for the upgraded version
    for the cloning process, connect the SSD to the
    USB-to-SATA adapter, and then connect it to your
    laptop with the USB cable.
  • If your laptop fails to show the Solid State Disk
    with a new letter, go to Disk Management tool
    and select "Create and format hard disk
    partitions". Here you will find SSD as a new disk
    if you find the message "Not initialized"
    right-click on the drive and select "Initialize
    disk."
  • Now, resize the current partition of your data
    storage disk to keep it idle or small than the
    Solid State storage.

NOTE The C drive has Windows and your installed
programs and it should be larger than the SSD. If
it is larger than Solid state drive, you will
have to shrink the SSD down and make it the
smaller one.
  • Now, restart your computer to make sure that the
    partition works before cloning.
