Title: Problem caused by Re-used Needles

1
Problem caused by Re-used Needles
2
Needle Reuse A Global Issue
  • Needle reuse is one of the most common causes of
the spread of blood borne disease.
  • Blood borne pathogens are often contracted
through the reuse of needles and syringes. These
diseases can be contracted directly when a needle
or a syringe is reused or indirectly when using a
single-dose medication vial more than once.
  • Healthcare professionals are instructed to never
reuse a needle or syringe and to dispose of both
    properly after one use.

The global Issue
  • The re-use of needles and syringes is too common
    around the world.
  • Each year, 16 billion injections are given in the
developing world and it is estimated that 6.7
billion are done with re-used equipment.
  • Since 2001, there have been more than 150,000
people in the U.S. affected by unsafe injections,
but experts say that many instances go unreported.

Safe Injection Practioners HMD
  • HMD needles are packed in tamper-evident, blister
packs having easily peel able, fibre-free,
    imported, medical-grade paper to ensure
reliability of sealing and product sterility.
  • HMD Dispovan and Unolok needles have always
adhere to safe injection practices under standard
precautions to prevent disease transmission from
needle and syringes or multi- dose vials
