8 Healthy Meal Options For Seniors
2
Summary
  • For the families caring for elderly parents it
can be a challenging task to maintain a healthy
and nutritious diet. But with some simple meal
ideas you can take good care of your seniors
    health.
  • Need some ideas of good and healthy meals for
    your seniors?
  • As seniors age it is even more important to take
    care of their dietary needs.
  • Though elder nutrition doesn't necessarily follow
some strict guidelines, it is important they have
a diet that properly aids and nourishes them.
  • Here are some ideas of meals you can add to their
    diet plan
  • Lets start with breakfast

3
Power Toast
  • When your seniors need healthy fat and some
protein, try out some peanut butter or almond
    butter.
  • Try it on whole-wheat toast, and dont forget to
have a fresh fruit on the side.
  • Poached Egg
  • If nothing is available, simply have an egg on
top of whole-wheat toast and steamed asparagus.
  • You can add a small amount of butter on top.

4
Warm Oatmeal and Berries
  • You will need frozen or fresh berries for this.
  • Add them to a cooker and put it at a low heat
    setting.
  • Add a small amount of butter and one serving of
    oatmeal.
  • Add the required amount of water and simply cover
    and cook on low.
  • Yoghurt Parfait
  • What about mixing together yogurt, nuts and
    fruit?
  • This can be a good combo for seniors as it has
healthy fats, Vitamin C and carbohydrates.
  • Serve a lip smacking lunch

5
Quinoa Salad
  • Try sautéing some pre-chopped stir-fry
vegetables, try adding an onion, red pepper,
mushrooms, combined with pine nuts or pecans.
  • Serve with cooked quinoa. It can be blended with
Italian salad dressing. And the best thing is
that you can eat it warm or cold.
  • Eggs and Red Potatoes
  • With a small amount of butter in a frying pan,
sauté some chop up potatoes and place the pan
    over a medium heat.
  • Cover it for 2 minutes and then pour scrambled
    eggs over the potatoes.
  • Later you can add pepper and toss until the eggs
are hot. Try using fresh herbs and spices instead
    of seasoning it with salt.

A healthy dinner is a must have
  • Shrimp and Pasta
  • You will need some butter and 1 Tbs. olive oil.
  • Heat it in a saucepan and then add chopped fresh
herbs, garlic and a handful of shrimp.
  • Cook until the shrimp is done. Serve on a bed of
pasta, topped with some chopped fresh tomatoes.
  • Baked or Grilled Salmon Steak
  • On the top of each steak place tomatoes, chopped
garlic, sweet onion, dried or fresh basil, and 1
    Tbs. extra virgin olive oil.
  • Just nicely wrap each piece of fish tightly in
aluminum foil, and keep it in the oven on a low
    heat.
  • We hope you and your seniors will love these
    healthy and nutritious meal ideas.
